Hybrid strategy for routing, modulation and spectrum assignment in elastic optical networks

In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid strategy that combines mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulation with different alternative routing approaches is capable of solving, simultaneously, the routing, modulation format and spectrum assignment problem in design elastic optical networks. We extend our proposal to path-link that, although it not guaranteed find optimal solution, has shown reasonable solutions within inferior simulation time, allowing be used very short also compare another MILP three adapted heuristics, all available literature. The results show benefits considering diverse scenarios number formats over 19 realistic networks terms run time maximum set slots.
